Accident causes wrongful death of New York cab driver

New Yorkers may have heard about a recent accident that claimed the life of a cab driver. According to reports, the wrongful death of the cab driver was caused when a motorist crashed into the victim's taxi. The victim was standing outside the cab when the fatal accident took place.

According to sources, the 35-year-old victim was standing in front of his parked cab when it was hit from behind by a speeding motorist. As a result, the victim's own vehicle struck him with an impact so massive that the victim went up in the air before falling down behind another parked vehicle. He died on the spot.

Due to the impact of the collision, both vehicles hit three more parked vehicles. In one of those cars, the driver was inside the vehicle and sustained minor injuries and was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to witnesses, the motorist who caused the accident was driving at a high speed on a busy street, as the engine of his car could be heard racing. The accused motorist told officials that the accelerator of his vehicle had gotten jammed. According to officials, alcohol did not play a part in causing the accident, and hence, no charges were framed against the motorist.

The police may not have framed any charges against the speeding motorist, but the family members of the deceased victim have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the wrongdoer. New York law allows survivors to file a compensation claim to reclaim personal and financial losses.

The family may choose to file the compensation claim with the help of a professional. A professional may be helpful in ensuring that the legal rights of the survivors are not violated and that they get maximum compensation within minimum time. The claim can include medical expenses, funeral expenses, loss of income and loss of companionship.
